Work in the forest has been a vital part of Newfoundland and Labrador’s heritage for generations. The forest sector is at the heart of the province’s economy, with thousands of people employed in industries such as pulp and paper production, sawmilling, and forest management.

So when the forest sector faces economic and environmental challenges, the people who depend on it for their livelihood feel the pressure. Model Forest of Newfoundland & Labrador will strive to unite the people and communities most affected by forest management issues- communities whose income, character and survival depend on the health and vitality of our province’s forest sector.

The Model Forest and its partners share a common vision: strong, vibrant communities equipped and empowered to sustain the forest into the future. We see community ownership and accountability in the forest sector. We see people rising to economic challenges and creating healthy local economies.

Working together, we envision strong, forest-based communities that will ensure our forest heritage for generations to come. Our partnership is intent on change- we invite you to come be a part of it.
